TLC is about to launch a reality show filmed in Dearborn which will be all about the lives of the lives of American Muslims, which is dually set to premiere on TLC in November.
“All American Muslim” is described more as the inside looks in the world which is so rare of Muslim Americans to unfold their insight and mostly misunderstood community.
The series is about “inviting viewers into a world they might not otherwise experience,” said TLC’s general manager Amy Winter in a press release.
The cast of the show are totally diverse as there is a football coach, a law worker, two sisters- one among whom wears a a traditional Islamic headscarf and one who sports piercings and tattoos and has recently married an Irish Catholic man who is converting to Islam.
All this show wants to show is that there is diversity even within their community as well. Everyone owns the different beliefs which is different from person to person but we all are living in the similar daily life and that is the main point that to be highlighted.
According to a survey it was found that 46% of Americans favor American Muslims whereas 26% have an unfavorable view.
“I don’t have a camel parked in my backyard,” cast member Suehaila jokes in an early episode. Says cast member Nawal, “I buy Burberry, I buy Louis Vuitton, I buy Fendi.”
But there still prevails the possibility of a hostile response from viewers and advertisers. But acc. To the writer of the show once this show starts there will be different response from the audience as the concept is very charming.
So, through the medium of this show audience can explore about American Muslim’s belief and traditions with daily routine in America.
