Airtel Prepaid Tariff Rates Hikes By 20%

Bharti Airtel is the India’s greatest telecom operator. In the begining of this year, Airtel set in motion its 3G services in India. Bharti Airtel has acquired 3G license in Mumbai, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh , Rajasthan, West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, North East, Jammu & Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka circle. Airtel subscribers in other circles will also be able to enjoy the 3G services, thanks to the Intra Circle Roaming Agreement (ICRA) with private operators such as Idea and Vodafone. This is unquestionably a good news, but there is also a bad news for the Airtel subscribers.
The company has decided that users who are using the advantage packs, which are based on per minute billing, will have to pay 60 paise per minute for local and STD calls and 90 paise for local and STD calls to landlines.

Moreover, Re 1 and Rs 1.5 will be charged for local and national SMS, respectively. Active users will have to pay for new rates after the validity of their existing voucher ends.
There is no increase in the tariff of its ‘Freedom’ pack, which is based on per second billing.Call tariffs were hiked by 20% in six major circles including New Delhi, Andhra Pradesh.
